Luverne Community Hospital
Luverne. MN

Part of Sioux Valley Health Network, Luverne Community serves as a 27 bed critical access hospital.

RPA Design used their “collaborative teaming approach” with TSP, a local architecture and engineering firm to provide leadership services during the master planning and early design phases. The leadership services inlcluded informative discussions with the owner concerning construction costs, operational impacts and multiple other factors relevant in the decision making.

Sioux Valley Health Network decided to construct a facility at a new site to establish a signature prototype for a “rural hub” facility. The RPA Design/TSP team discovered a strategic location that would enhance the hospital’s mission to provide services to smaller communities in its area in lieu of sending families to the larger tertiary care campus. The new hospital design provides for expanded programs in orthopedic surgery, wellness and cardiology rehab, as well as clinical facilities for outreach specialists. Integrated with the local physicians, these programs provide a holistic and community approach to patient care in this rural setting.

The project came in second place to receive the prestigious Vista Award. Since 1993, the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), the American Hospital Association (AHA) and the American Institute of Architects Academy of Architecture for Health (AIA/AAH) have nationally recognized design and construction initiatives through the Vista Awards.
